“If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day
In those shoes”
Such has been the influence of media in our lives that we must deal with everyday personality twists.
Fashion and major corporations plays such an important role in our daily actions that we`re constantly pursuing their ultimate releases to buy them in order to fit into certain social groups.
There`s a clear example in Kanye West`s song “All falls down” which states
“We`ll buy a lot of colthes when we don`t really need ‘em.”
People become so obsessed with their artists that they forget to be themselves and try to imitate them. However, not only fans try to act as their favourite celebrities, but also among them, performers sometimes emulate characteristic actions of others in order for fans to follow them.
I never thought I'd say this...a song from 3 Doors Down that I like!!! Thank you!!! This is proof that we shouldn't eliminate any music or art from our potential list of likes. Maybe it goes further to show us that many situations in life have to be experienced before omitted. Either way, I like the inherent connection between this song and Kanye West's 'All Falls Down'. I think about images...consciousness...questions...and reflections. What would we give to be like...what? I would like the other members of the group, not named lucho, to comment, share ideas. Thanks for being prompt, working and being the first group to post.
ReplyDeleteIn today´s world we can see that teenagers are the aim that big comanies attach to their advertisement so that they can sell. They sell their ideas to teenagers to make them believe that they are "one of them" but they are just ussing them so they can sell more and more.
ReplyDeleteI have already heard this song but I haven’t connected it with media. I think we are always looking for a model to follow and this is a tool that brands use to achieve their marketing goals. I don’t think we all wanted to look as celebrities but to find what match and identify us. This is why we try things we see on advertizing, because they look amazing. I also consider we would always think others’ life is better that ours and this is why we want to be in their shoes, but sometimes just as advertizing are fake images.
ReplyDeleteThis song has mede me reflect about how consumism has involved with the music, we think that we are identified with artist and their songs so we want to be like them ,but the truth is that they would sing and write about anything just to sell.
ReplyDeleteThis song was post by my group,I already heard this song and i think the message id trasnmitted is quite simple taking into account that big industries sell the consumers certain image of the perfect person that everyone in some point wants to become, by media people reaches this goals leaving their principles behind.
ReplyDeleteThis song reflect what society is now a day. Media create models that people want to reach but as we are all different people never can reach them making them buy an buy until they feel satidfy with who they are. Who will think that a popular song will send such a message.
