As we read "Down These Mean Streets" and Catcher in the Rye" we notice that the whole story is about finding a group to belong and/or social acceptance. In some cases they need to sacrifice certain things in life in order to actually make part of something. It even happens that some of these sacrifices are unconscious, like getting into a fight just to help a friend in need, without asking anything in return.
Why do they do this?
Is it a common pattern in mankind?
What kind of sacrifices do we do to belong somewhere?

ReplyDeleteMathew, I'm reading The Catcher Rye, so far have seen several aspects of what you mentioned in the publication, so I think it is important to mention the social problems that occurred during the novel, between the fighting, something described as eat normal that violates the rules, I am struck, a young man smoking a cigarette, but so is life, everyone chooses which road to take, no one is forced to do anything.
ReplyDeleteAnother aspect for, is how dress each character, how they interact, and this too affects the social problems in places like this.

ReplyDeleteLui I reading " Down these pisses streets " I think that this book shows very much the comments that your doing above. Since the truth about my opinion I think that in my case if I was passing, I will do it everything for my family and the well being of them, is a sacrifice that I do it for them. It is what more matters for me in my life.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it is what is happening in the book exactly.
